Big Impressions: NC Prints
The Printmakers of North Carolina are pleased to announce Big
Impressions: NC Prints. A state wide competition seeking challenging and inventive new and large work from artists throughout the state for an exciting exhibition. The work can include both traditional and non-traditional approaches to all hand-pulled printmaking processes.
Juror: Adam Cave
Adam Cave has earned degrees in both Fine Art and Art History from Connecticut College. His art career began in Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1992. He has been the director of Gallery C in Raleigh for over ten years before opening Adam Cave Fine Art, located at 115 Hargett Street in Raleigh. He has served on the Town of Cary Public Art Advisory Board and has lectured for The Visual Art Exchange and The Fine Arts League of Cary. Most recently Adam was asked to be a juror for Artspace in Raleigh and, in 2008, he will serve as art chair for the Alliance of Aids Services - Carolinas "Works of Heart" auction, the largest art auction and fund-raiser in the Triangle.

Timeline
May 1, 2009 (deadline for materials): Submissions, fee, entry form, and one appropriately-sized self-addressed stamped envelope if return of submission materials is desired.
May 15, 2009: Notifications e-mailed.
May 23, 2009: Work to arrive at The Town Hall
May 31, 2009: Exhibition opening.
Eligibility
Big Impressions: NC Prints is open to all North Carolina artists. Entrants may enter 3 works in digital format. All work must have been created in the last two years.
Entry Fee
A $35 non-refundable entry fee per entry for non PoNC members. ($25 for PoNC members) (Check, money order, or cash accepted). Make checks payable to The Printmakers of North Carolina.
Delivery and Return of Work
Selected artists are responsible for delivery of work to the Town Hall in Cary at 316 North Academy Street on Saturday, May 23 between the hours of 11am and 4pm. Work may also be shipped in reusable containers with prepaid return shipping. All work must arrive ready to install. If the work is not gallery-ready, or does not exhibit good craftsmanship, it will be omitted from the exhibition. Accepted work that differs significantly from the entry images or suffers from poor presentation, will be disqualified. Accepted work will remain on display for the duration of the exhibition. All work must be prepared for mailing or picked up by July 25, 2009.
Sale of Work
All work will be available for sale during the exhibit. The Printmakers of North Carolina (PoNC) will retain a commission of 20% of the listed sale price on all artwork sold during the exhibition.
Digital Images
Submit up to three works, digital works only on readable CD containing images saved in jpeg format, 300 dpi, approximately 5 inches x 7 inches. Label each image with the title of work. Also include your check list with your name, title, medium, dimensions (hxw), date, and artists statement. Label the CD with first and last name of the artist. CDs of accepted work will be retained for educational purposes. Rejected CDs will be returned only if an appropriately-sized self addressed stamped envelope is enclosed. If your work is selected, it may be used in publicity materials, included on The PoNC website, in e-newsletters or in other material.

VITREOGRAPH COLLABORATION FEES
Proofing Charge: $250 a day or $40 an hour
The proofing charge covers services of professional help, cost of normal materials, and proofing up to a maximum of 8 proofs.
Impression Charge: based on size and number of glass plates (one plate for each color).

The total price of an edition is the proofing charge times days to achieve the BAT plus the impression charge times the number of prints. For example: 20 impressions (edition plus proofs) from one plate, size 12” x 16” that takes two days to resolve the BAT would be $1,000.00.
Proofing charge: $250/day x 2 days = $ 500
Impression charge: $25/impression x 20 prints = $ 500

The fee does NOT include impressions retained by the studio or impressions rejected due to technical fault: miss registration, smeared or blotted color -These prints will be destroyed.

Pricing of the entire project will change with:

length of stay, number of runs, size of edition, & size of plates

additional fees will be added for split plate inking, á la poupeé inking, special wiping.
Please note:
Proofing charges will be due at the end of the artist’s visit.
Edition charges will be due one month following delivery of impressions to artist for signing.
All charges will be payable to Littleton Company, Inc.
